Encounters with loss & creative healing:
A daylong therapeutic, creative retreat

What if we were to approach death, loss, and remembrance through curiosity, movement, story, and making? This November 1 workshop brings together creative and critical practices for exploring mortality, remembrance, and our relationships with those who are no longer with us and the parts of our lives that we have lost. Participants will move between reflection, conversation, prompted writing, and embodied activities, paying particular attention to the ways places and objects invite us to remember, feel, and make meaning. Rather than seeking definitive answers about death, Encountering Loss and Healing creates room for uncertainty, encounter, and discovery. Together, we’ll experiment with ways of noticing what loss and creative healing reveals about how we live, remember, relate, and belong.

Through guided reflection, conversation, and creative activities, participants will consider how we remember the dead, how landscapes and objects carry memory, and how encounters with mortality can change the ways we understand the living. No special knowledge or experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to explore questions that are at once deeply personal, cultural, and communal.

This is a space for slowing down, listening inward, and discovering what wants your attention now.

Led by an experienced therapy and writing team, in a small-group dynamic setting.

Tracy has more than 25 years in therapy practice and journeying with people through grief and trauma. Michelle is the professor that people go to when they need guidance to bring their thoughts to life on paper. She is masterful at gently prompting reflective writing. Together we will walk, observe, reflect, and talk with one another as we explore this journey together.
